Can you pay for a Wikipedia page? Notability and paid editing rules
What notability means, why independent sources matter, how paid-contribution disclosure works and how to prepare an article that is not deleted.
Wikipedia is one of the sources Google and AI assistants rely on most, which is why its rules are strict.
Notability
You need significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. Your own site, press releases and sponsored content do not count.
Paid editing and conflicts of interest
Paid contributors must disclose; people close to the subject should propose drafts for independent review rather than publish directly.
An article that survives
Gather independent sources, write neutrally, cite every claim and use the review process. No sources yet? Earn coverage first through PR.
We assess notability, work by the rules with disclosure, and fill gaps with PR.
Frequently asked questions
Is paid Wikipedia editing banned?
No, but Wikipedia's terms of use require paid contributors to disclose it. Undisclosed paid editing breaks the rules and gets articles deleted.
