Interim injunction
An interim injunction is a temporary court order preventing irreparable harm before a case is decided; it can stop a publication.
When
When delay would cause serious harm and the claim is likely to succeed, for example ongoing spread of serious false allegations.
Elsewhere
Germany's equivalent is the "einstweilige Verfügung", which moves very fast in personality rights cases; in England and Wales interim injunctions in defamation are rare.
Frequently asked questions
Is it permanent?
No; it lasts until the main case is decided.
