Right to be forgotten
The right to be forgotten lets people ask search engines to delist outdated or irrelevant personal information that no longer serves the public interest.
How it works
In Europe it rests on Article 17 GDPR and the 2014 Google Spain ruling; search engines remove results for searches of a person's name. Turkish courts have also recognised it.
When it helps
Old events, cases that ended in your favour, or a period when you no longer have a public role. It is hard to use for public officials and current events. See the right to be forgotten guide and GDPR Article 17.
