How to remove photos from Google Images

A photo in Google Images is also a link to a file on another site; you either have the file removed at source or ask Google not to show it.

Why does the photo still appear?

Even if you deleted it, another site, forum or news page may hold a copy, and Google Images shows each copy separately. Open the image, follow the link to its source page and list every site that hosts it. A reverse search with Google Lens finds further copies.

Which route for which photo

  • Non-consensual intimate or AI-generated explicit images: Google's dedicated form, handled with priority.
  • Images showing personal data such as ID or address: the personal information removal form.
  • Images of someone under 18: the form for images of minors.
  • A photo you took or own the rights to: a copyright (DMCA) notice.
  • Deleted at source but still visible: the Refresh outdated content tool.

Removing the source

Write to the site's contact address or, failing that, its hosting provider's abuse address. If you took the photo, copyright is the strongest argument; if it reveals personal data, cite the GDPR. See our DMCA notice template.

Frequently asked questions

Can I delete my photo from Google Images myself?

Not directly. You submit a form to Google or have the copy removed from the site that hosts it.

My photo was altered with AI. What should I do?

Use Google's form for explicit fakes if applicable, collect every link and report the accounts that shared it on each platform.
