Germany's Interstate Media Treaty § 20: right of reply online
In Germany, a person affected by factual claims in journalistic online media can require publication of a reply under the Interstate Media Treaty.
Conditions
Only factual claims can be answered, not opinions; the reply must be requested without delay, be proportionate in length and not obviously untrue.
Publication
Next to the original, without additions, and visible for as long as the original stays online. Print media fall under state press laws. Template: right of reply letter.
General information, not legal advice. In real cases we work alongside lawyers who specialise in digital rights.
