How to remove Trustpilot reviews
Trustpilot will not delete a review for being negative, but it reviews flagged content and can ask the reviewer to prove their experience.
What Trustpilot removes
- Reviews not based on a genuine experience
- Defamation, hate or personal information
- Reviews by competitors, ex-staff or people with a conflict of interest
- Ads, spam and reviews about another company
Step by step
- Claim your profile with a free business account.
- Flag the review from your dashboard and choose the guideline.
- For "not a genuine experience", explain that the person is not in your customer records. Trustpilot may give the reviewer time to provide documentation; if none arrives, the review is removed.
- Flagged reviews are hidden during the review and then reinstated or removed.
Watch out
Inviting only happy customers breaks Trustpilot's rules and can lead to a warning on your profile. Invite everyone.
Frequently asked questions
Should we reply to negative Trustpilot reviews?
Yes. A specific, polite, solution-focused reply often matters more to future readers than the review itself.
